CEC Celebrates: Deven Moore Scores 44 points, sets records

Deven Moore, Junior at CEC, joined the Cougar basketball program this season, helping to solidify a solid team.  Moore and his teammates are off to a fantastic start, with a 12-1 Varsity record in early December.  The Cougars traveled to Evansville on December 10th to face off against a strong Legacy Academy from Collinsville, Ill.  Moore started to heat up from the 3 point line early, but really got the touch in the 4th quarter when his teammates recognized the spark and fed him the ball.  He scored 44 points on the night, going 14 for 22 from 3 point range, making nine 3 point baskets in the 4th quarter.  To put this accomplishment into perspective, in Kentucky the most made 3-point baskets in a single game is 17, with the record being set in 1989.  Moore has found himself ranked in the top 10 nationally for total made 3 point buckets on the season.  Coach Renfro loves the trust this squad has in each other.  “This is truly a team that enjoys seeing each other be successful.  We all knew who was taking the shots in that last quarter.  This squad has a special chemistry and they trust each other.”
