Math Testing

To determine placement, all CEC students must take a Math Placement test before enrolling in their first Saxon Math class at CEC. (Completion of a Saxon math course outside of CEC is not a substitute for the CEC Placement Test.)

Before scheduling your test, please download and fill out your Math Placement Registration Form.

Then please email it to Erin Whitaker at cecofficeassistant@gmail.com.

Pre-registration is required. The fee for testing is $30, payable to CEC on the day the test is taken. Tests cannot be administered without payment. Please bring pencils. (Students testing for calculus ONLY will be permitted to use a scientific, non-graphing calculator. No cell phones.) Tests are designed to take about an hour, but 90 minutes is allowed. You should receive a reminder email about a week before the test.

It is advised, but not required, that the Math Placement test be taken before submitting a request for a Math class at CEC on the application. A change fee will be required with the CEC Drop/Add Form to change classes after an application has already been submitted. CEC cannot guarantee other classes will still be open if you must change your schedule as a result of the placement test.
