2020 was a Banner year for the CEC Cougars Baseball program as 3 Seniors and 1 freshman commit to play college baseball. As a young baseball program, we had our first college signee in 2019 when David Savastio signed with Asbury University. Now just 1 year later we are excited to announce that 4 more Cougars are set to play college baseball. It’s really incredible and a blessing for a small program to have such high caliber players. We go out on a nightly basis and compete against some of the best teams in the state and the results just validate what we are doing. Our goals each game are #1 to Win and #2 to Earn Respect. We frequently get compliments from the opposing teams fans regarding our level of play and the character of our guys. We are literally changing the perception game to game of what people think homeschool baseball looks like. Our guys work hard and love the game, their passion and desire are now being rewarded as we see 4 more Cougars commit to play college baseball. We are really proud of all our college bound players and love the legacy that they are leaving for the next generation of Cougars. Good Luck Guys!
Trent Hartlage signs with Franklin College
We are excited to announce that Trent Hartlage has committed to play baseball for Franklin College. Trent has been our starting shortstop and lead-off hitter since first walking on the field for the Cougars as a freshman. Trent is a very skilled player both defensively and as a hitter, he is also one of the fastest guys on any team and will surely make the Grizzly coaches smile as he takes his game up to Franklin College. Trent has worked incredibly hard to put himself in a position to play college baseball and we all look forward to following Trent and the Grizzlies. We are all proud of you Trent. Best of Luck and Congratulations Trent!
Jaden Cockerel signs with Lindsey Wilson College
Jaden signed a college letter-of-intent with Lindsey Wilson College. All of us around CEC felt we had the best catcher in the state and his signing validates our belief. Jaden will surely be a welcome addition to the Lindsey Wilson team. Jaden possesses exceptional defensive skills as well as a very good bat. Jaden worked incredibly hard as a Cougar to put himself in position to continue his baseball career at the college level. As a freshman Jaden showed up at CEC as a skinny kid who had a quiet confidence and plenty of skill to back it up. However, he knew he needed to bulk up in order to compete at the college level so he hit the weight room and gained 50 pounds of muscle during his senior year. We wish Jaden the best of luck and all look forward to following Jaden and the Blue Raiders. The entire CEC family is extremely proud of you Jaden.
Oliver Graves signs with Harding University
We are so excited to share that Oliver signed his Letter of Intent to play baseball for Harding University. Oliver or “OG” as we all call him has been our do it all guy since he first donned a Cougars cap. Oliver’s versatility was a real blessing and at one point or another, he played every position on the field except first base. That is until the 2020 season where we gave him a couple innings at first and he now has the distinction of playing every position for the Cougars. His versatility and defensive prowess will be hard to replace but we will miss him the most on the mound. Oliver became a lock down pitcher for us and really found his love of the game on the mound. Oliver is an incredible athlete and extremely hard worker. We know he will be a very welcomed addition to the Harding baseball team. We are all proud of Oliver and look forward to following OG and the Bison’s.
