Two CEC students took top honors in the Kentucky-West Virginia District Oratorical Contest on June 6, 2020! The contest was based on the topic of “Imagine a world without boundaries!”
Carmen Tate was the 3rd place winner and received a $1,000 scholarship.
Abigail Coleman was the 1st place winner in the District and received a $2,500 scholarship.
Abigail Coleman will compete in the Optimist International Regional/World Championship for a chance to win an additional $5,000 at the Regional level, and $15,000 at the World Championship. The Regional/World Championship competitions with take place on July 17th and 18th, 2020.
Optimist International is one of the world’s largest service club organizations with over 80,000 members. The Optimist Oratorical Contest is one of the most popular programs, with more than 2,000 clubs participating annually.
