CEC’s high school chess team did it again with our second straight Kentucky state championship title! The team (Dalton Rich, Andrew Feng, Jillian Stemler, Reed Tappmeyer) was perfect (4-0-0) in match play and undefeated (12 wins-4 draws-0 losses) in individual play, defeating Ballard, Bullitt East, Dupont Manual, and Butler. Thanks to all the parents who hung out with us in Lexington, encouraged the players, and brought food to share.
Andrew and Reed earned special plaques for their perfect 4-0 individual scores on Boards 2 and 4, respectively. Jude Reynolds, Thatcher Boehm, and Evan Stemler excelled in the concurrent Alternates’ Championship, each scoring 3-1.
We are so proud of the 13 CEC players who participated and represented our school with both fierce competitiveness and excellent sportsmanship. What a great day this was for them and for CEC!
