Description:

Algebra 1 This course will develop the understanding needed to resolve more complex algebra problems and functions with this step-by-step instruction. Topics included, but not limited to, in this course are signed numbers, exponents, and roots; absolute value; equations and inequalities; scientific notation; unit conversions; polynomials; graphing; factoring; quadratic equations; direct and inverse variations; exponential growth; complex fractions; and probability. Students will learn in small doses at their own pace while increasing retention of knowledge using an incremental approach to math. Students who have not previously enrolled in a math course at CEC are required to complete a $30 placement test.  Students previously enrolled in CEC Algebra ½ (Pre-Algebra) classes need not take this placement test.

Texas Instruments TI 30Xa calculator, $14.99 (other calculators must be pre-approved by Mrs. Smith.  NO GRAPHING CALCULATORS), Three-ring binder with dividers, lined paper, pencils, erasers, ruler, protractor, home computer with internet access and printing capabilities.
